Day 200: Collapse of Global Civilization Inevitable?

Below are excerpts of the Article ‘Experts Fear Collapse of Global Civilization’ by Stephen Leahy - For the full article please visit: http://www.ipsnews.net/2013/01/experts-fear-collapse-of-global-civilisation/

“Experts on the health of our planet are terrified of the future. They can clearly see the coming collapse of global civilisation from an array of interconnected environmental problems.”

“Our reality is that current overconsumption of natural resources and the resulting damage to life-sustaining services nature provides means we need another half of a planet to keeping going. And that’s if all seven billion remain at their current living standards, the Ehrlichs write.

If everyone lived like a U.S. citizen, another four or five planets would be needed.”

“We’re facing a future where billions will likely die, and yet little is being done to avoid certain disaster, he said.

“Policy makers and the public aren’t terrified about this because they don’t have the information or the knowledge about how our planet functions,” he said.”

“Solutions exist and are briefly outlined in the Ehrlich paper. However, these require sweeping changes. All nations need to do everything they can to reduce their emissions of fossil fuels regardless of actions or lack of them by any other country, he said.

Protection of the Earth’s biodiversity must take centre stage in all policy and economic decisions. Water and energy systems must be re-engineered. Agriculture must shift from fossil-fuel intensive industrial monocultures to ecologically-based systems of food production. Resilience and flexibility will be essential for civilisation to survive.

A key element in meeting this unprecedented challenge is “…to see ourselves as utterly embedded in Nature and not somehow separate from those precious systems that sustain all life”, writes England’s Prince Charles commenting on the Ehrlich’s paper.

“To continue with ‘business as usual’ is an act of suicide on a gargantuan scale,” Prince Charles concluded.”

Surprise, Surprise

We all know we’ve been living high and mighty – but the party’s about to end and we have to deal with all the garbage that came along with it.

We’ve been living on borrowed time (or should we rather say ‘stolen time’, after all so many of our fellow humans are suffering and only have a very short life span at the expense of our decadent lifestyles) and it’s time to face the music. We’ve been living very, very, very irresponsible and we really made a fuck up of our Home, Earth.

Interesting how some of the solutions mentioned in the above article, is exactly what Equal Money intends as part of its central goals:

“All nations need to do everything they can to reduce their emissions of fossil fuels regardless of actions or lack of them by any other country, he said."

From the Equal Money Goal Page:

Energy

The Equal Money System will reduce the use of non-renewable energy resources by 95% through removing the profit motive and replacing it with the production of effective products of the best quality available equally to all, supplementing energy needs with renewable energy sources.

“Protection of the Earth’s biodiversity must take centre stage in all policy and economic decisions.

A key element in meeting this unprecedented challenge is “…to see ourselves as utterly embedded in Nature and not somehow separate from those precious systems that sustain all life”, writes England’s Prince Charles commenting on the Ehrlich’s paper.

Stewardship

Within an Equal Money system it will be recognized that Humans are a part of the Ecosystem they live in. The word 'eco' stands for 'home' - and thus, each human will be responsible for maintaining the Balance and Harmony within their home, within their Ecosystem. This involves the Monitoring of the Well-Being of the Plants and Animals within one's Environment and to Intervene when Disharmony occurs as a result of Human Impact, so that a new Equilibrium can be established.

How much longer do we want to wait and keep our eyes closed? We know what to do and we know that any amount of time that we wait longer will create unrecoverable damage.

Like Prince Charles said: To continue with ‘business as usual’ is an act of suicide on a gargantuan scale,”. We have an opportunity to change this before it is out of our hands. The only rational thing to do, is to prepare the way and implement an Equal Money System -- where we can once and for all assume responsibility for ourselves and the world we live in .

Day 25: The Mockery of Democracy

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that democracy exists

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to believe that a political system is in place where elected politicians represent and work for within the best interest of the population

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that the world is governed within a system of plutocracy (rule by the wealthy for the wealthy)

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that presidents and leaders are not brought forth into their position through true democratic processes – but are selectively chosen by the wealthy as their candidate – where the candidate has shown promise to serve and maintain the interest of the wealthy –and thus the wealthy will sponsor and fund their candidate’s campaign and place him/her in a position of power

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that money rules

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself that no democracy and sovereignty can exist when countries are indebted over their heads to other countries and private entities – and where the latter will dictate to the debtor what must be done to remain in the creditor’s grace

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see that there can be no political freedom within the current state of the world due to the current world economic system – as all decisions are based on money and one can only do so much if there is only so much money available and one is in massive debt

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that there is only power where there is money

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that a leader can only do as much as he is being supported to do financially by other parties – where these parties are the wealthy who will only support their leader if the leader supports their interest

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that at this stage it does not matter who gets elected during a political election – as the elected can only carry out policies if he has money and this money comes from the wealthy – and thus the cash flow from the wealthy will actually determine the course of a nation

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that although symbolic leaders change – those who actually govern do not change – as all they ever do is make sure that they do not lose their wealth and find ways to accumulate more wealth  – and thus no real change ever comes about

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that the leaders within this world and their cronies are all interlinked with the corporatocracy – as they all in some way or another have links with major corporations and will rule and run their politics in the benefit of the corporatocracy

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that the world isn’t run by politicians but by ruthless businessmen

I forgive myself that I haven’t accepted and allowed myself to see and realise that we are currently not all “free citizens” with a “chosen leader” who will direct a society to what is Best for All – but where we are all employees to a symbolic leader who in fact works for the corporate elite and that we are freedom is only an illusion which is maintained so we won’t see what is going on and complacently remain in our position of slaves

I commit myself to expose the political criminalities that take place within the world

I commit myself to show that the current political system is works more like a criminal syndicate than a system which support the people for the sake of the people

I commit myself to expose that we do not have and never have had a true democracy – and that the first step towards true participation and representation of the whole is the Equal Money System

I commit myself to expose the money flow which dictates who gets to be a leader and who doesn’t and how leaders will only act in a way which benefits the wealthy

I commit myself to expose that we are not living in a democracy but in a plutocracy/corporatocracy – where only money counts and money votes

I commit myself expose how no nation, no being is in fact sovereign as all are slaves to the money system and have no actual freedom whatsoever

I commit myself to show that we as the human race have in no way evolved – we’ve only gotten better at justifying our behaviour and come up with clever, sophisticated ways to keep doing what we’ve always been doing while maintaining the illusion of “evolution” and “freedom”

I commit myself to an Equal Money System – the only system where all will in fact be FREE
